
Inger Eliasson
Inger Eliasson is an Associate Professor of Education at the Department of Education, School of Sport Sciences, Umeå University, Sweden. She specializes in children’s and youth sport, with a focus on children’s rights and childhood socialization among children, coaches, and parents in sports. Inger has made significant contributions to understanding children’s perspectives and experiences in sports, often examined through the lenses of children’s rights, gender, and generation. Her research has particularly focused on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, with an emphasis on children’s experiences of emotional abuse as athletes and young referees, as well as the implementation of children’s rights in sports. Inger has been a member of the Board of EASS, the European Association for the Sociology of Sport since 2025. Inger served as a Board Member and Vice President of the Swedish Association for Behavioural and Social Science Research in Sport (SVEBI) from 2013 to 2017, and was a member of its Nominating Committee from 2001 to 2012.
