Alison Quigley

Alison Quigley is a survivor of child sexual abuse who comes from a background of high-performance gymnastics. In 2016 she and another victim worked with the SANO police taskforce in Victoria to secure accountability for the perpetrator, who was sentenced to six years imprisonment. Inspired by Athlete A, Alison went public with her story in August 2020 and contributed to the Australian human rights commission review that examined systemic abuse in gymnastics. She has an arts/law degree, a Masters in Philosophy and is now near the completion of her doctorate in law, analysing child safe policies in Australian gymnastics. Outside of the research frame, she advises to the National Office for Child Safety within the Federal Attorney-General’s Department and is a lived experience advisor within Victoria University. She also advocates for those who have experienced abuse in sport. Her specific areas of interest include progressing the need for trauma-informed investigations in sport, and developing stronger systems of accountability and transparency for this sector.
